Welcome to the

Semiahmoo Seniors Planning Table

During this time of Covid19, we invite all seniors to stay safe, happy and healthy. Here are some links to services and programs available from our partners:

White Rock Library – many services available online www.fvrl.ca

Alexandra Neighbourhood House – caring circles https://www.alexhouse.net/

Seniors Come Share Society (comeshare.ca) is providing several remote services during the COVID-19 crisis, including:

  • Seniors’ Centre Without Walls – telephone based social/recreational activities.
  • Expanded Better at Home services, including support with grocery ordering/delivery, and meal delivery.
  • Meal delivery – this means prepared meals sent to vulnerable seniors.
  • Telephone reassurance calls – making sure isolated seniors stay connected; if they have health questions, we will connect them to our nurse who will determine if any further action is required.

A Rocha Farm to Families program is now offering phone call & email check-ins to seniors. This may especially be of interest to seniors who want to chat about gardening, receive stories/photos/videos from the farm, contribute their bird & plant sightings, etc. Information/stories would also be collected to perhaps share with A Rocha’s public school partners, with the aim of starting a pen-pal system. If anyone wants to sign up for participation in A Rocha’s Farm to Families program in the ways outlined above, please ask them to email our team at farm.to.families@arocha.ca or call Sandra at 778.235.3723.

White Rock Psychologists and Counsellors have set up a website specific to our community and they will be offering 1:1 counselling pro bono (if all other options have been exhausted), telephone and video counselling and a whole lot of resources.  The website is http://www.together-wr.com
